To be successful at linkbuilding, you have to have something worth linking to, and many websites simply don’t. While it’s true that you used to be able to buy link placement on relevant websites, that’s just a pointless exercise anymore.
You’ll end up chasing your tail, as the search engines not only find ways to devalue those purchased links, but as of April 2012, they will penalize you too.
If you have thousands of products for sale, but scant information for visitors, why would anyone want to link to you?
